Bishops Castle 2007 Micklemas Fair

Bishops Castle Micklemas Fair 2007

Well, it was my intention to write a good review of this years event, filled with band line-ups, local food and drink reviews served by the local, and not so local, populace!

Unfortunately, due to the effects of the local food and drink, most of the weekend is a bit blurred!

BC as it is known locally, is a oasis of community spirit, where tolerance and understanding of all ages, colours and creeds is not only consciously preached but lived by it's inhabitants.

On the face of it, BC is nothing more than a sleepy farmers market town, but underneath this mask of agriculture is a whole sub-culture of artists, musicians, artisans and DJ's, working together and supporting each others endeavours to enjoy each other and celebrate life.

What a blast!

These guys are great!

This clip was shot at the 2006 event, and featured the Gypsy Jazz guitarist Gary Potter playing Jon Bon Crovie's (Jon Crow) beloved guitar ‘Beryl.’

Unfortunately, Gary Potter was unable to attend this year and was greatly missed.

The Herbert Spliffington All-Stars were being filmed at this year's event, which was outdoors at the Six Bells Pub.

When it becomes available, I will put it up.

i became super excited when i saw the title... "micklemas" totally intrigued me, as i thought it might be similar to the irish festival we have here in st. paul. being 100% irish, and a literal "mc", i'm thinking booze, corned beef, and some fights... alas, this was not the case.

good blog anyway.

Micklemas is a corruption of Micheal's Mass.

Well curry and a BBQ,not quite corn beef..lots of the dark stuff being drank so not entirly different.

I hjave found some more info on the fair soI will be extending the entry soon.

I have also checked out your blog and added you to my site Tequila
