So how do you Twitter? Ah! well Yoono....

I started using Yoono, a Firefox extension about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I am gradually finding that it is an excellent vehicle to communicate across many IM and social networking platforms.

It integrates well with Firefox and runs as you can see, as a left hand side bar, (no option to switch to the right as yet).

One of the more potentially exciting features is the ability to post directly to your blog.
I say potentially because I haven't actually been successful in doing this.
Yoono appears to have sent the posting, but when I have checked the actual blog, it is nowhere to be seen.

So if anyone has any ideas on how I can solve this, please leave a comment!

Netvibes v iGoogle v Pageflakes

Over the past couple of days I have embarked on trying to not only get to grips with several new applications which I have installed, but also with Twitter and it's many tools.
I decided to do a few searches on some of my pet subjects, and one in particular, Netvibes, provided some interesting responses.
Opinion was mainly divided into three camps. The Netvibes Camp, staffed mainly by staunch, long term advocates of Netvibes.
There are also some new adoptees from the iGoogle Camp, who have not liked the recent changes which have happened, and a similar tale from those who have just left Pageflakes over the advertising debacle.

Mind you, there a a lot of iGoogle and Pageflakes fans out there who don't like Netvibes at all! And a few ex-Netvibes users who didn't like the changes when Netvibes released 'Ginger'!

I personally like and favour Netvibes, but that doesn't mean that I automatically discount the others as I have included them in my Netvibes universe under their own tabs.

Blogs of Note and Webs of Wonder

Blogs of Note and Webs of Wonder

TweeterBlog

I have had a Twitter profile for a while but I did not really get it. It is not that I am unfamiliar with 'chat platforms' I have used so many over the years, Tiscali, (Don't hear so much of them these days), Yahoo (before that annoying Boat Theme they embarked on!)...lots!
Twitter, it was just another that I would get round to.

What changed were external factors brought Twitter further to my attention. Some of my other services such as MYBlogLog include links to social media sites via widgets, including Twitter. From media reports about how politicians, reporters, news media are using blogging and Twitter and Installing a few Twitter tools I have begun to understand how useful Twitter is!

As I tend to blog around news issues mainly, with a few blogging tips and stuff thrown in, I initially hunted out media outlets and government statements on Twitter.

I also follow a few, though slowly growing, independent Tweeters such as Jack Bastide (just love that handle!) and he has some great posts on his site including a video introduction to using Twitter.

Yes it's Jack Bastide! who in 2 and a half months has posted over 5000 Tweets!

Amazing, I will be lucky to do that in a year.

Unfortunately it would see I am too late to respond to his offer but I look forward to making some new and much needed contacts through this post.

So I’ve been on Twitter about 2 1/2 months now and I just came up to Tweet # 5000! I wanted to make the 5000′th Tweet special and give back to all the cool people that are following me. So here was my 5000th tweet …

5000th Tweet - Tell Me About YOU and Why People Should Follow You in 140 Characters - All Replies Will go on My Website As My Gift To You!"

This is a great example of a simple post which elicited a great response.

Well I have finally got round to putting the link to my Netvibes Universe on to my Blog. (See Links to Other Dimensions in Time and Space).

It is a bit bare-boned at the moment, with a page to my Helium articles but I will be putting further pages with some interesting links and stuff as soon as I finish this.

Incoming Yahoo !!!!..Take Cover!!!!

Well I finally got round to importing my latest Blogger entries and the whole of my Yahoo blog into Multiply.

Not too keen on the way Multiply has laid it out, from the oldest to the latest, but maybe it is configurable.

Sorting out the emails and giving feedback

It's nice when people stay in touch..you know..your just sat there ..thinking of them.. as you do... when either the phone rings and it is them or an email lands on your cybermat...then after chasing your cyberdogbot to get the email out of it's virtual grip, you can see who has sent you love, scams and downright chicanery.

Out of all the social networking, blog promotion type things I have joined, Blogcatalog has some of the more active members. I regularly receive and give out these broadcast messages and they a jolly good way of letting everyone know what is happening.

Well Hello Molly...Nice of you to drop by..help yourself to some food and drink, I'm sure the others will be along in a short while...emmm?....

Anyone up for this?

It is nice to share and play with your friends....

and then I can move on to the next email account and do it all over again..what fun!!!

What is Cyberbullying? - Guest Authors - Internet Safety-For Our Children's Sake

I dropped round Rose DesRocsher site this morning and she had put a link to an article on Cyber-bullying written by her son.

If you have looked though the Tao of Blog you will know that this one subject which I have a personal vested interest, having had to not only deal with a cyber attack but the process which surrounds reporting such an attack to the police.

I do not know the age of the author but he has produced a very well researched and written article on a subject which concerns anyone who uses the Internet, particularly if one uses social networking sites or Instant Messenger networks.

Socialstream

Socialstream

If you read my previous article on how I use Netvibes to bring all of my profiles under a Unified Home Page, well this is an article on a similar theme called Socialstream which is a Google-sponsored project Master's program at Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute where they are looking also towards Social Networking Unification.

(Maybe I could get a grant!! LOL)

(Taken from the Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute's website)

This project was guided by three goals that built upon each other:

Initial Task: Rethink and reinvent online social networking

Refined Focus: Discover the user needs related to social networking and explore how a unified social network service can enhance their experience.

Prototype Goal: Create a system for users to seamlessly share, view, and respond to many types of social content across multiple networks.

Directed to help improve the online community orkut, the project's scope was not to simply redesign the interface. Our team considered how online social networking could bring greater value to users, especially for ages above twenty. After initial brainstorming and research, we chose to focus on the effects of a new model for online social networking: a unified social network that, as a service, provides social data to many other applications. Our user research examined needs related to online as well as offline social networking and considered how they related to a unified social network service model. Through this user research we identified a set of archetypes that represent common behavior patterns that existed across multiple study participants and also formulated a summarized list of their high level needs.

I will keep an eye on developments for a follow up.

BloggingZoom / Upcoming

One thing that I really enjoy and that is how helpful and community minded many of the people I have met on the net. I like to visit as often as I can, those sites I have reviewed earlier in The Tao, and one of these by Grizzly I visited this morning.

He was reviewing a social networking site Blogging Zoom which is set up for bloggers to bring more traffic, created by two more internet guru's (don't you just hate cliques!) I had not yet encountered, Courtney Tuttle, and Vic Franqui.

Apparently this social networking site is more geared to us 'Little Bloggers of the Lower Shire', those of us who are trying to gain a tentative, hairy, bare-foot hold on the Steep Winding Stair of Darkest Blogmoria.

By joining and submit your blog or article posting to Blogging Zoom along with a short description of what the item is about. It is then cast, like bread on the waters (pearl's before ..poof...go away little demon! ) to be voted on by other users.

This will hopefully start a community of bloggers who are all helping and supporting each other.

The creators site.

See your postings get listed where they can be voted upon by our peers...

You can monitor your posts progress in real time!

Once I signed up and had my first couple of posts up and running on BloggingZoom, I included it on my Netvibes page, where is mashed in quite easily.

As part of the incentive for spreading the word around about BloggingZoom if you create an article about Blogging Zoom and publish it on your site you will get a link from his Alexa ranked/ PR3 site.

Quality links are our life blood.

Check this out, this is a great idea and just might work if we all support each other.

By the way, did I mention that it is free? No? Well just shows how enthused I was!!!

Yes, there is no fee for this service, which sorta restores one's faith in your fellow human..for five minutes anyway!!

Miroland's Audio & Video Blog

Could this be the Holy Grail of Web 2.0 of which I seek?

If not that well it certainly seem the one stop shop for all you blogging questions.

Teodor Miroslav Muntean hails from Romainia where he has been involved with business consulting since the early nineties with experience in small business consultancy, writing and publishing, targeted traffic strategies, article marketing social networking, Web 2.0. He terms himself as ' a Coachable Coach and Netpreneur', though I am not too sure what that means?

His site seem packed with streamed video from renowned experts in the field such as
Tim O'Reilly (who?) and explanations to the concepts of Web 2.0 and Social Networking.

Now, if I can just stop blogging long enough to actually learn something.......
